List of all of the DMARC validation messages you may encounter
Below is a list of error or warning messages you may see when trying to validate a DMARC record.
We expect the Sendmarc CNAME record, if it is not found or an error has been found it will give the following message, this is an error:
"The CNAME record has not been added correctly and the record doesn't match the expected configuration."
If no CNAME record is found next we look for a TXT record, if it is a full match of the expected DMARC record the following message will appear, this is then considered a partial verification:
"The CNAME record has not been added correctly. This can cause configurations to conflict."
Should the aggregate reporting addresses not match the default or configuration:
"One or more aggregate reporting addresses are missing."
Or should the Forensic Reporting addresses not match the default or configuration:
"One or more forensic reporting addresses are missing."
Should the TXT record NOT fully match, nor could our reporting address could not be found, this is an error:
"The CNAME record has not been added correctly and the record doesn't match the expected configuration."
Should the TXT record NOT fully match, but our reporting address could be found, this is partial verification:
"The record doesn't match the expected configuration, but our reporting address is present."
Should the aggregate reporting addresses not match the default or configuration:
"One or more aggregate reporting addresses are missing."
Or should the Forensic Reporting addresses not match the default or configuration:
"One or more forensic reporting addresses are missing."
If no DNS entry can be found for the DMARC record, the following error will appear:
"We can't find the expected DNS record."
If an unexpected error occurred:
"Something went wrong"
